Roth & Rau AG develops and manufactures plants and process systems based on plasma and ion beam technology, serving a global customer base across a wide range of industries.

In its core business area, Photovoltaics, Roth & Rau supplies production plants for the solar industry. The SiNA^® and MAiA^® plant series make the company one of the global leaders in the production of antireflective coating systems.

In 2010, PECVD and PVD coating plants for the production of highly efficient solar cells using heterojunction technology were launched under the name of HELiA.

In addition, Roth & Rau supplies diffusion and firing furnaces for the production of crystalline silicon solar cells.

Roth & Rau now also offers the PRiMELiNE brand, which provides a new face for its existing turnkey concepts, marketing equipment and technology packages based on the company’s extensive expertise in producing solar cells.

Roth & Rau’s equipment package exclusively contains proprietary production plants for the process steps of depositing antireflective coating, (SiNA^®/ MAiA^®), diffusion (CALiPSO) and firing (CAMiNI). The technology package comprises all essential services from project management to starting up complete production lines and process optimization for achieving the desired cell quality.

In the business area of Plasma and Ion Beam Technology the company’s subsidiary, Roth & Rau MicroSystems, provides customized system solutions for various surface technologies, making it one of the few global providers of pioneering ion beam trimming technology.
