ULVAC GmbH
Your partner for the next generation of photovoltaic applications
ULVAC (ULtimate in VACuum), a leading manufacturer of vacuum systems and components since 1952, has been focused on process and equipment development for more than 30 years, to serve the demand of the industry for renewable energies, especially for thin-film photovoltaics (TFPV). From high production machines to analytical equipment as well as R&D systems, ULVAC covers nearly every application for manufacturing solar cells and co-products. More than 50 manufacturing systems have already been delivered to our customers producing thin-film solar cells or doing research. ULVAC successfully developed innovative turnkey lines for tandem-type TFPV. More than 15 complete productionplants are in operation utilizing our professional and well-organized worldwide support network.
With the “Fast Track Certification Program”, offered in collaboration together with the TÜV Rheinland, customers can utilize the ULVAC testing laboratory to ensure fastest commissioning of their products.
With one of our newest machines, the MPEC-1300 Multi-Probe Evaluation System, an inspection system to characterize and evaluate tandem PV, ULVAC enables cost reduction of analytical equipment in a solar fab by combining up to six different measuring heads mounted on one unique multifunctional test system.
ULVAC innovative solar-powered EV chargers
While there has been a rapidly growing demand for solutions that supply solar-generated electricity to public facilities, factories, homes and electric vehicles (EVs), ULVAC has developed and launched a combination of photovoltaic power generation and rapid charger system for EVs (incl. normal charger).
It only takes about 25 minutes to charge 80% of the EV capacity, which is remarkably faster than the 8 to 14 hours with ordinary chargers. This PV power generation and rapid charging system can use utility power during the night and days, even with little sunshine.
In addition to the demo system at the ULVAC headquarters, there is already an installed project with the city of Chigasaki, Japan. Photovoltaic cells on the roof of the municipal parking lot (initial power generation 20 kW) are used with power conditioners, rapid chargers (50 kW), normal chargers and power generation control monitors with wireless displaying the electric power generated.
